Conflict Styles With Face Negotiation Theory Introduction: In many aspects of our life, it is pervasive to work in a team. No matter in company, school, or another type of team it is necessary to be a part of a team and to achieve a team goal by corporations. People join a team with different personalities, goals, values, beliefs and needs. On the one hand, these differences can be a valuable quality of teams. On the other hand, these same differences inevitably lead to different levels of conflicts as well. This paper analyzed the conflicts communication by styles and types of conflict. There are five distinct types of conflicts, while this paper will only focus on collaboration conflict style and accommodating conflict style. These two types of conflict styles are more useful under corporative work environment. Additionally, my personal best and worst team experiences respectively illustrated how collaboration effective for my team work, and how overly accommodation influence my corporate outcomes. This paper is designed to offer a better understanding about conflicts styles, and intercultural communication and conflict within organizations. In terms of the paper structure, first, this paper gave a short explanation about the conflict styles. Then, some related concepts of Face Negotiation Theory explored in this paper as well. Gwendolyn Brooks Essay Gwendolyn Brooks-A Critical Analysis of Her WorkGwendolyn Brooks is the female poet who has been most responsive to changes in the black community, particularly in the communitys vision of itself. The first African American to be awarded a Pulitzer Prize; she was considered one of Americas most distinguished poets well before the age of fifty. Known for her technical artistry, she has succeeded in forms as disparate as Italian terza rima and the blues. She has been praised for her wisdom and insight into the African Experience in America. Her works reflect both the paradises and the hells of the black people of the world. Her writing is objective, but her characters speak for themselves. Although the idiom is local, the message is universal. Brooks uses ordinary speech, only words that will strengthen, and richness of sound to create effective poetry. Though plain speech, each word is used more differently and more intensely than in ordinary discourse. Old yellow pair resounds with more meaning than old couple. Yellow implies faded or old; Pair is more compassionate than couple, suggesting more of a connection than just a matchup. Though easily readable, the first line sets a tone of tenderness. Dinner is a casual affair is also a unique statement. Though five plain words, each is used effectively to create an irony which is maintained for the rest of the stanza. Dinner and affair imply more formal situations, but yet are described as casual. This vague irony is further developed in the next two lines, Plain chipware on a plain and creakin g wood, / Tin flatware. Chipware is Brookss own term, which originates from flatware. Dinnerware implies wealth and elegance, while chipware implies aged dishes used by the poor. Yet, chipware also calls up the dignity of dinnerware. The plain and creaking wood or table reinforces a sense of poverty. Consistent with the preceding images, Tin flatware implies cheapness because of tin, but also refinement from flatware. Each word is used to add or reinforce meaning in the poem. No words are used unnecessarily. The first stanza is laden with sonorous words that effectively convey the meaning of each phrase. The three round O sounds in the first line are a mouthful, and create an almost whispery quality that is reminiscent of the worn quality of the people. Dinner is a casual affair is a line with soft vowel sounds, which are easier to swallow than the long sounds of the first line. This coincides once again with the implications of the words. The first line paints almost a dreary pictu re, while the second adds an air of lightness. These vowel tones segue into a more caustic series of consonant combinations in the rest of the stanza. Tin flatware imitates the sound of the forks and spoons hitting the plain creaking wood. The repetition of plain introduces a pattern of repetition that will appear throughout the poem. A relief from the biting consonant tones of the last two lines comes with an almost cooing first line of the second stanza. The line Two who are Mostly Good allows the reader to dig for meaning. Brooks has encouraged young writers to allow for interpretation of their writing, and this is a perfect example of her own advice. The internal capitalization of Mostly Good is somewhat confusing. In a recording by the author the words are not emphasized. Rather, one can assume that the words are capitalized not for auditory emphasis, but for their important meaning. Brooks seems to be making the statement that no one is completely good, but does not necessarily add a negative connotation. A separation of the eventfulness of the past and the repetition of the present is shown by the lines Two who have lived their day / But keep on putting on their clothes / And putting things away. Twinklings and twinges remind the reader of youthful memories and stars, but also harsh memories. The use of alliteration ties the two opposites together, much as a person has the most vivid memories of the happiest and saddest times. Nuclear Proliferation With regards to Iran's position on Nuclear Proliferation, it is compared to the position of Iraq, which is a country that has already signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty but wants Nuclear weapons. Iran is a greedy country waiting to get the technology to develop its Nuclear program and with recent development and help by other countries such as China, North Korea, Russia, and Kazakhstan, it leaves the west worried. CIA director, Robert Gates, testified that Iran was seeking a Nuclear bomb and could have one by the year 2000 if the West does not prevent it. (Washington Post; NOV. 17, 1992). Since 1991 Iran has sought out the buy nuclear reactors to help it learn the technology such as in 1992 when it purchased reactors from former Soviet republics and China Only one Middle East country owns nuclear weapons and that is Israel, which helps Iran's case because that then creates a super power in that area. As said by Iranian leaders of Iran's right to possess nuclear weapons and have suggested that Muslim nations should acquire nuclear weapons to match Israel's capabilities. Along with Iran, Iraq is also trying to build a nuclear program and are even closer than Iran is. Iran has signed the NPT but does not agree with the contents. The treaty controls the export of nuclear technology to prevent the spread of atomic weapons. Iran does not follow this since they have been trying to import information on how to make these weapons. Since Iran is trying to build a nuclear missile and is looking for information outside the country, they do not agree with Non-Proliferation. Iran for years has tried to buy information off of China on how to build a nuclear reactor and just lately Russia. Ten private Russian companies were allegedly helping Iran with nuclear technology. Since then the United States learned of Russian and Iranian cooperation and has imposed sanctions on those companies. Nuclear information needs to fall under internal matters and the International Atomic Energy Agency and the United Nations should not try to regulate nuclear proliferation. Countries that do not have nuclear weapons feel that to protect themselves against countries that do have weapons so they need to keep on developing ways to produce the weapons. If any country is a protocol for anti ? proliferation it would have to be the United States. Many times they have stopped Iran from buying and receiving nuclear information and materials from other countries. Other anti ? proliferation countries should see what the US has done with Iran and do the same. No the IAEA should not be strengthened. Non ?proliferation countries should take control of the countries that are still evolved with proliferation.. The committee can strengthen the UN's efforts by providing new ways of stopping countries that are providing nuclear information and those receiving it. If there was a way to protect countries against other nuclear countries in their region then it would ease proliferation. Ook in de presidentile stelsels hebben de kiezers meer invloed op het beleid, omdat ze de president als hoofd van de regering kiezen die vervolgens zijn of haar kabinet vormt. De minister-president komt meestal voort uit de grootste partij van de regeringscoalitie, maar het is goed mogelijk dat de grootste partij geen deel uitmaakt van het kabinet. De regering heeft meer macht en dat komt doordat het regeerakkoord ervoor zorgt dat Kamerleden van de regeringsfracties hun eigen afweging niet meer mogen maken. Het verschil in informatie tussen regering en parlementarirs is groot. Een minister heeft namelijk veel ambtenaren achter zich staan, terwijl een Kamerlid alleen n of twee medewerkers achter zich heeft. This war was one of the most negative events in American history, yet it helped shape the character of the American individual today. The causes of Civil War can be traced back to tensions that were created early in colonial era. Mainly, the war between the two regions was caused by social, political and economic differences between the South and the North, but it is important to understand that slavery was the root of cause of these differences. Socially, the North and the South were built on different standards. The South was a slave-based community, and people were depended on slaves and accustomed to this way of life. South plantation owners had slaves working for them, and those who could not afford to own slaves would work on their own farm. The North had more immigrants settling in its areas, where labor was needed. Therefore it had a more industr ialized society where most people worked in factories. The Northerners opposed to Slavery as an institution in the South, as the Confederate States were the only region in the world that still legalized the ownership of slaves. This angered the Southerners and threatened their way of life. By time, economic differences also developed between the two regions. The Southern states were depended on agriculture rather than industrialization. After the Cotton Gin was invented, it increased the need for slaves and made cotton the chief crop of the South. However, the North was prospering industrially. The North depended on factories and industrialized businesses. In addition, many of the new immigrants settled north, while very few settled south. This allowed the North to grow industrially, while making the South more hostile t owards them. Southern economy opposed high taxes, as manufacturing was limited. But the Northern states accepted high taxes to protect its products from cheap foreign competition. Another major problem that occurred was the competition between the North and South for more land. The expansion of America due to the lands obtained from the Louisiana Purchase and with the Mexican war, it caused the issue of whether new states would become free or slavery. This decision was important not only for the individual state making the decision but for the country as a whole. In December of 1818, a bill was placed into the hands of congressman to allow Missouri to be admitted as an independent state of the United State. The bill wanted Missouri to be permitted to have slaves. The Northern representatives did not want Missouri to have any slaves. They wanted a free state and any slaves located in the territory of Missouri to be freed. However, the Southern representatives wanted the state to ret ain their right to have slaves.
